WHEN CATHEDRALS WERE WHITE

The cleaning/refurbishment of Chartres cathedral is revealing the white stone and the wonder of the painted detail. Instead of being one of the darkest cathedral interiors, the work is transforming it into one of the brightest. We will soon be able to appreciate what cathedrals were when they were white.
